A five-day Short Film Production Workshop was conducted in Azaz and Idlib to strengthen the technical and creative capacities of young participants in using film as a tool for advocacy on gender equality and social inclusion. The workshop in Azaz was held on 4–8 February with the participation of 15 young people (11 women and 4 men), while the workshop in Idlib took place on 19–23 February with 15 participants (13 women and 2 men).

Throughout the training, participants explored key concepts related to gender equality, women’s rights, social exclusion, discrimination, and the role of media in challenging stereotypes. Alongside these thematic discussions, they received comprehensive practical training covering the entire short film production process, including story development, scriptwriting, character creation, visual storytelling, camera operation, lighting, sound recording, directing, teamwork in film production, and basic video editing techniques.

The workshop combined interactive lectures with hands-on group exercises, enabling participants to work collaboratively on developing and filming their own short film concepts. Participants practiced planning scenes, operating filming equipment, directing actors, and reviewing footage under the guidance of experienced trainers. The workshop concluded with the screening of the produced materials, followed by group discussions and feedback sessions, allowing participants to evaluate their work, exchange experiences, and strengthen both their technical filmmaking skills and their understanding of rights-based storytelling.
