The life stories of 10 disadvantaged women from diverse social and geographical backgrounds were documented through professionally produced face-to-face video interviews. The stories reflected different forms of marginalisation, including poverty, disability, displacement, restricted access to education, social pressure and the responsibilities faced by women as primary breadwinners.
The ten short films focused on the following experiences:
| Story | Main Theme |
|---|---|
| Story 1 | The social marginalisation and emotional consequences experienced by a woman following a broken engagement. |
| Story 2 | The challenges faced by a divorced woman and primary breadwinner after returning from Europe and readjusting to restrictive customs and limited employment opportunities. |
| Story 3 | Breaking social and personal barriers, reclaiming agency and transforming experiences of harm into strength. |
| Story 4 | A woman’s transition from physical imprisonment to another form of restriction created by social pressure and exclusion. |
| Story 5 | Overcoming disability, rebuilding confidence and becoming an active and supportive member of the community. |
| Story 6 | Challenging gender stereotypes while assuming responsibility as the primary breadwinner for her mother and children. |
| Story 7 | The impact of poverty on women and the resilience required to care for daughters, including children with disabilities. |
| Story 8 | Resuming education after an interruption and challenging attitudes that prioritise early marriage over girls’ academic development. |
| Story 9 | A journey demonstrating the importance of resilience and perseverance in overcoming difficulties and achieving personal goals. |
| Story 10 | Girls’ right to education and the determination to continue learning, working and building an independent future. |
The stories were professionally edited, digitised and published on the Local Cultural Network (LCN) platform. Through human-centred visual storytelling, the films contributed to challenging stereotypes, increasing awareness of women’s rights and promoting empathy and social inclusion. All ten stories were also presented during the project’s dissemination and closing events.
