As part of the activity, two youth hackathons were organised in Azaz/Afrin between 10–12 April 2026 and in Idlib between 14–16 April 2026. The hackathons brought together 30 young participants, including 26 women and 4 men. In Azaz/Afrin, 15 women participated, while in Idlib 11 women and 4 men attended the activity. During the hackathons, participants worked collaboratively to develop innovative ideas and practical solutions addressing gender equality, women’s rights, and the social inclusion of marginalized women and girls. The activity also strengthened participants’ teamwork, problem-solving, and advocacy skills through collaborative and youth-led learning processes. Accordingly, the target of 30 participants set for this activity was successfully achieved. 

The hackathons aimed to strengthen participants’ capacities to develop digital advocacy tools promoting gender equality and women’s rights in Syria. Through participatory workshops and group work, participants analyzed the root causes of gender inequality, designed digital advocacy campaigns, developed key campaign messages and digital content, and prepared evidence-based policy recommendations. The activity resulted in an integrated digital advocacy campaign, communication materials, and a set of recommendations for decision-makers to support gender equality and women’s empowerment.
