The three-day “Voices of Change: Women’s Civic & Political Empowerment Camp” was organised in Idlib between 5–7 May 2026 and in Azaz between 8–10 May 2026. Each camp consisted of five hours of training per day and aimed to strengthen young women’s political awareness, civic engagement, leadership skills and capacity to participate meaningfully in public and decision-making processes.

The camps followed an interactive and participatory methodology combining guided brainstorming, case studies, group work, open discussions, video-based learning and practical exercises. The sessions addressed human rights and active citizenship, the relationship between rights and responsibilities, democratic principles, systems of government, constitutional frameworks, electoral processes and systems, and the role of women in political life. Participants also discussed the importance of women’s representation in parliaments, governments and local councils, as well as women’s contribution to inclusive policymaking, peacebuilding, social cohesion and community development.

A total of 30 women participated in the activity, with 15 women attending each camp. No male participants attended. Accordingly, the target of 30 participants established for this activity was fully achieved. 

The pre- and post-training assessments demonstrated measurable improvements in participants’ knowledge. The training reports indicate that participants strengthened their understanding of human rights, active citizenship, democracy, constitutional systems and electoral mechanisms. They also increased their awareness of the importance of women’s participation in political life and developed critical thinking, dialogue, communication and teamwork skills to support responsible civic engagement.
